Project Research
In January 2004, a woodland project development plan began, hoping to address the needs of our modern day culture. Experience within the local community was very rich and varied with many bio-dynamic farmers, craft workers, forestry workers and people highly qualified in special needs areas gave their time and support to the future woodland project.
With new legislation from government implementing curricular demands upon state primary and secondary schools to provide a much higher degree of outdoor and environmental education, it was the perfect time to address the needs of schools and provide facilities to assist them to meet these demands.
With this in mind, a grant application to Cyd Coed was begun in January 2004, taking a total of 12 months work of research, networking and presentations to local authorities and schools, to finally secure a grant of £156,000 for a two year project to convert Allt Llwyn Dyfrion into a woodland community education centre.
