The Trustees

Barrie Griffiths (Business Planner)

Barrie Griffiths has been a trustee with the group for over two years and has primarily been involved in the business planning aspect. He has fifteen years experience running a large business with ten employees and also working for financial institutions having been a Building Society regional manager.

Sion Brackenbury (Environmental Consultant)

Sion is a post graduate student of the University of Wales specialising in environmental and conservation management.  Sion has a wide ranging experience of work within the nature conservation and social sectors, in particular the management of common land for agricultural and conservation benefit.  He is a project manager with considerable experience of securing and managing grants and building capacity within community groups.  He is presently working for the Gower Commons Initiative Partnership with a part time secondment to the Welsh Commons Forum to support the development of an organisation to draw together Commoners Associations from across Wales.  Sion is a director of Common Vision, a land use consultancy and sits on the management team for Ysgol Nant-Y-Cwm.

John Davies (Environmental and Educational Consultant)

John has a HND and a BSc in Environmental Science. He was a Country Park Education Warden for two years working mainly with groups with learning difficulties, facilitating outdoor activities and managed three separate SSSI parks as a countryside warden.
John recently managed Greenlinks CIC at Pembroke Bush Secondary School delivering OCN/BTEC woodland courses to autistic children, children with learning difficulties and disaffected or socially disadvantaged young people.
John is currently a class teacher at Ysgol Nant-y-Cwm Steiner.

Melissa Holloway (Educational Consultant)

Melissa is a trained Forest School Leader, storyteller and experienced workshop leader. She has been telling tales to children, teenagers and adults since 2002.
Melissa has run self-esteem and confidence building workshops as well as woodland based projects and environmental art workshops. Melissa is qualified in Permaculture Design, Disability Equality, Facilitating the Development of Emotional Literacy in Others and has spent 3 years training in sustainable livelihood.

Dave Hoyle (Woodland Management/Educational Consultant)

Dave has been involved with NYC Community Woodland from its very beginnings, undertaking much of the research work and networking with local authorities and organizations.

Dave taught Physical Education at Ysgol Nant-y-Cwm Steiner for over six years and had five years Steiner education training in movement therapy and spatial dynamics.Dave also teaches part-time for Greenlinks CIC at Pembroke Bush Secondary School tutoring vocational OCN’s in woodland & countryside management, working with autistic children, children with learning difficulties and disaffected or socially disadvantaged young people.
He is currently NYCCG Company Secretary
